S1/S2 Craft, Design and Technology
Course Overview
Our S1/S2 course is design to build a range of skills throughout the 2 year course. We want the pupils to have the chance to experience the range of equipment. The course will cover the following skills.
Graphic Communication: Free hand sketching, Rendering, Using Drawing boards to create accurate drawings. Producing drawings on the computers using CAD/CAG software. Producing presentation work manually and using Desktop Publishing software
Design and Manufacture: Use of hand tools and machines within the workshop. Safe working practice. Designing a product considering the restrictions of the brief. Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
The Course is taught through 3 main projects in S1 and 2 in S2.
This year’s S1 projects are the Keyring project, Spatula project and the Logo project

For the first home study task pupils are asked to look at examples of cooking utensils and evaluate the design. Remember it can be other cooking tools: ladels, spoons, etc. Something with a handle and a part that moves or holds the food.
